Whatever “special sauce” was used during its production needs to be brought back, as the sound stage is incredible, paired with a great, tight bass and a level of transparency that feels like letting fresh air into a room.
While the RCA 5962 is a rival for this tube, it tends to be more dry, similarly, the Tung-Sol round plates are a competitor, but they roll off on the top end far too early. This appears to be one of the best 6SN7 tubes in existence, and while there are the Brimars of the world, they are simply different rather than better. This is a relic of the past that is likely impossible to reproduce, so if you find one through dealers or on eBay, you should grab it immediately.
