One thought on “Raytheon JAN 6080”
Visually not as cool looking as other tubes in 6as7 family with their coke bottle shape – 6080 is a military version of 6as7. It looks like an oversize 6sn7. Some people say that size doesn’t matter, but in this case, because of size or other reasons, the sound is not as great as other tubes. The sound is very detailed, with deep bass and extended HF, but it’s not very musical – it comes out sounding very clinical. In the beginning of Mozart’s Symphony 41, when the violins kick in, you can definitely hear sharpness instead of richness of the instruments – it’s like a scalpel – very precise, but not very lively.
