  1. RCA delivered another interesting specimen with the RCA 5687 Black Plates O-getter, but this time the results came a bit short of my expectations. The tube sounds good and provides that superb warmth typical of RCA black plates, it is also accompanied by superb bass that provides a solid foundation.

However, the tube falls significantly short when it comes to the top end of the spectrum, as the high-frequency roll-off is extremely early. Because of this character, the tube sounds great for vocal jazz where that warmth is an asset, but when switching to rock or live music, much of the magic is lost.

Final Verdict: Not recommended due to the early treble roll-off that limits its versatility across different music genres.
