  1. Hmm, I just found the worst sounding tube. I gave it 2 stars because it actually did play sound – I wouldn’t call it music though.

The sound that came from the tubes was so muddy – it’s like I had a broken amp. The soundstage has collapsed from the previous tube that was in the amp – it became very two dimensional. I used a simple GE 6SN7GT before the Shuguang. I thought it would be a good counterpart to this “tube” – and I was very wrong about that. Shuguang 6N8P, it’s in a class of its own. I couldn’t separate voice from instruments – I was like a crumpled paper – everything is mixed tother into a single ball of sound. The top, as it is usual with many Chinese tubes is very bright, but not airy – it sounds very sharp. There should be a warning on this tube – Prolonged exposure may lead to ear pleading – Proceed with caution. Forget about mid-range beauty – as dry as a stale bread (wait I actually like that), it’s like sandpaper.

If you are reading this and you use the tube, please, get the cheapest US tube you can find on eBay, you will not believe the difference that will make to the sound of your system. It will turn the sound into beautiful music.
