It was quite a surprise to me when I opened my shipment from an auction on Ebay and found long plate Mullard with halo getter and double support. I was expecting a short plate, but hey – I can’t complain 🙂 So how does it should? WOW! This is definitely one of the best tube that I’ve heard. Much more detailed than the short plate version and much more involving. Has all the signature sound dynamics of regular Mullard, but taken to a new level. Listening to Melody Gardot with it was absolutely magical, the amount of nuances that were played with the tube was just superb. How does it compare to Telefunken or Sylvania GB – the leaders of the group? It doesn’t 🙂 It’s so different that it’s impossible to choose between them. Highly recommended, but superbly expensive.
