The MELZ 1578/6N8S with gray plates and metal bases are quickly becoming some of my absolute favorite tubes, they offer a superb sound stage and a massive amount of detail that translates into lifelike, holographic imaging. Very few tubes are capable of achieving this level of performance, as is typical with military-grade tubes from the USSR, this model avoids any issues with brittle or harsh treble. The bass response is, as always, remarkably tight and strong, however, be aware that it takes a solid 60 hours of burn-in for these to fully open up from an unused state. While these tubes have become increasingly expensive and difficult to source, they remain the gold standard for those who want the very best.

Tried these tubes with my 300B amp and loved it. the most realistic sound that I was able to get out of the amp.
